About Readers' Club Vasagar Vattam
Chitra Ramesh has written short stories and won prizes including the prestigious Golden Point Award for Short Story. She has been actively participating in literary activities, and has been an active member in the executive committee of the Singapore Tamil Writers Association. She currently coordinates the readers club for Tamil readers known as Vasakar Vattam. Her book Nakaraththin Kathai has been shortlisted for Singapore Literature Prize 2015 under the non-fiction category. She has recently launched her second collection of short stories, Paravai Poonga.
M K Kumar has written many short stories and poems. He has won prizes for his short stories and published his short story collections. He actively participates in literary activities and in the Tamil readers club. He has compiled poems from female poets in Singapore and launched the compilation recently.
Azhagunila is a short story writer. Being an ardent reader, she actively participates in Readers’ Club. She is actively involved in the toastmasters club as well as a skilled public speaker, and is planning to publish her short story collections.
Shaanawas Khan has written about his experiences in the food industry and as a restaurant owner. His short stories are regularly published in Tamil Murasu Sunday edition. He is an editor of the e-magazine Singapore Cliche and has contributed to creating a congenial atmosphere for modern writing in Tamil. He published his short story collections in 2013, and has recently launched his book Ayal Pasi which describes the food tastes and habits of great personalities. Last year, he won the Singapore Literature Prize for his short story collection under the Fiction category.
Rama Kannabiran is a well-known name in the Tamil literary circle. His accolades include the Singapore Literature Prize, Cultural Medallion Award, S.E.A Write Award, and Thamizhavel Award. He is an enthusiastic participant in club activities and has been mentoring students in writing.
M Anandhkumar was the real force in starting Singapore Cliche. He is an ardent reader and actively participates in thereaders club.
Bharathi is a short story writer. She mentors and conducts workshops for young students in the toastmasters club. She participates in Tamil literary activities regularly.
