What happens when Earth’s resources are depleted, can you imagine life on another planet?
In this 2-day holiday camp, let’s explore how we can terraform Mars, to transform a presently uninhabitable planet into one where humans can survive on and to build a home on Mars.
Children will have fun learning the differences and challenges of Mars vs. Earth and understanding the conditions required to design for living on Mars. For Day 1 morning, children will create their own Martian land base model with hills and terrain before starting on the the space planning of their home on Mars with consideration for spaces to live, shelter, clothing, farming, supply of air, water and electricity for habitation.
Children will be introduced to current examples and research of Space Architecture to inspire possible design outcomes. They will have fun getting creative prototyping their home design on Mars with everyday objects and model-making materials, completing their model design by Day 2 afternoon for group sharing of ideas.
It will be a fun workshop to expand children's imagination and look into the future of possibilities, honing on their problem-solving and critical thinking skills to think of out-the-box in building up their Home on Mars model prototype.
