A 5-day Holiday Camp designed for children to explore various make and build projects; to test ideas through hands-on exploration, training dexterity, creative and critical thinking while learning new skills.

On day 1, children will be introduced to creative hands-on exploration with materials to design and Build a Bridge structure that can span and withstand a minimum given distance and weight. They will gain structural understanding on the types of possible loads or forces that could affect a bridge design. Through the process of prototyping and testing their bridge, they will learn from identifying weakest points in their design and how to improve and improvise to make it work.

On 2nd & 3rd day, children will Design My Room where they will zoom in on scale to imagine and design their dream bedroom incorporating their personal likes. Children will also be introduced to Jesmonite as an eco-friendly material widely used in arts, crafts and architecture. Guided by our Jesmonite specialist instructor from ANKY Studio, children will learn Jesmonite casting to create their own unique lounge chair furniture piece to complement their room design. They will get to choose the colours to create the casting mixture before pouring it into a mould and witness Jesmonite changing state from a liquid to solid through an exothermic reaction.

For the last 2 days of the Holiday Camp, children will have lots of fun imagining and look into the future of possibilities to Design a Home on Mars. Children will learn the differences and challenges of Mars vs. Earth and to understand the conditions required to design for living on Mars. Children will create their own Martian land base model with hills and terrain before starting on the space planning of their home with consideration for spaces to live, shelter, clothing, farming, supply of air, water and electricity for habitation.

Through the 5 days, children will learn basic model making and get creative re-using, re-purposing and transforming everyday materials into their unique individual design model prototypes.
