A 5-day Holiday Camp designed for children to explore various make and build projects; to test ideas through hands-on exploration, training dexterity, creative and critical thinking while learning new skills.
On day 1, children will explore model making and be creative to Build a TreeHouse with consideration for its form, features, levels, platforms and openings. With a natural tree branch given as a site context, children will visualize their design and learn the support and access needed for their TreeHouse design.
On 2nd day, children will be guided by experienced instructors from LittlePrintings, who are specialist in creating unique 3D printed designs, children will learn TinkerCAD to create a usable pencil pot before exporting it to a 3D printer for printing. Children will witness the process of their digital form being printed from scratch. While waiting for the 3D print, students will continue to explore TinkerCAD digital space; learning how to use the software as a design tool to create various digital forms. This immersive hands-on learning will empower them to envision, design, and shape their future prototypes.
On the 3rd and 4th day, children will Build an EcoHome and be introduced to various environmentally sustainable building design strategies; learn how to keep their home design energy efficient, and learn about materials and to use resources in a responsible manner. Children will build a 3D model prototype of their Eco-Home.
On the 5th day, Children will learn anthropometry and explore their body movements in space in an interdisciplinary workshop Body, Movement + Space conducted in collaboration with RAW Moves, a contemporary dance company. Children will learn to express themselves through movements and encapsulate their movements via translation to tangible wearable designs.
Through the 5 days, children will learn basic model making and get creative re-using, re-purposing and transforming everyday materials into their unique individual design model prototypes.
DesignTinkers camps are specially curated and led by instructors who are architects, designers and educators with the passion and experience of working with young children to nurture their creative interests. Camps are held in their spacious and conducive classroom for kids to create and explore freely under guidance.
