The Artground – A Curious Place to be is managed by The Ground Co Limited, a registered arts charity dedicated to children from birth to 9 years old. Their vision ‘To let art do, what art does’ defines what they do. As the first multi-disciplinary children’s arts centre in Singapore, they aim to provide positive arts experiences across a variety of art forms, and build bridges between artists, educators, parents and children from various communities to discover and co-create meaningful arts experiences together. They have been reaching out and touching the lives of more than 200,000 families to date. Currently in their fifth year, The Artground continues to provide free-access art spaces and families from all walks of life are welcome.
As part of their core programmes, The Artground also presents free-access interactive art spaces that change annually, offer a selection of arts programmes for families with young children on the weekends, and conduct arts learning journeys for schools, teacher training as well as corporate bonding programmes. Their artist development programmes enable them to forge strong partnerships with the artist community in their bid to support the development of arts programmes for young audiences in Singapore.
The Artground aims to be a space where artists, teachers, children and their families can feel at ease to come to, to discover and to be curious.
As of 1 November 2021, they have obtained their Institution of a Public Character (IPC) status. This allows donations of $50 and above made to their charity to be eligible for 250% tax deductions. The Artground depends heavily on volunteers and donations to keep their operations running. Visit www.theartground.com.sg for more information.
