Presenting the first-ever Monstrous Fun @ The Arts House and the return of the Goodman Open House @ Goodman Arts Centre
Singapore, 25 May 2022 - This June holiday, Arts House Limited (AHL) invites families to engage in art-filled family fun across two weekends at AHL’s venues, The Arts House (TAH) and Goodman Arts Centre (GAC). From Fri 17 June to Sun 19 June 2022, journey through children’s literature with the first-ever children's literary festival, Monstrous Fun! @ The Arts House. Take a trip to GAC the following Sat 25 June 2022 for the return of the annual Goodman Open House with a myriad of arts activities for all to enjoy.
Celebrate the curiosity in children’s stories with the imaginative world of little monsters
Presented for the first time by AHL, Monstrous Fun! @ The Arts House invites families to journey into the imaginative universe of cute little monsters and discover their world of stories with literary-based programmes in English, Chinese, Malay, and Tamil for families with children aged 3-12 years. As the home of the literary arts in Singapore, TAH treats families to a weekend of children’s programmes such as storytelling sessions, book fairs, yoga storytelling, and many more!
Join award-winning local author and storyteller, Rilla Melati, in Si Pencuri Ketawa, a Malay storytelling session on mini monsters who live in Gardens by the Bay, or sing along with the Nool Monsters in Tamil-English bilingual music storytelling session, Let’s play, Appa! presented by renowned local author, Abhi Krish. Monstrous Fun! @ The Arts House also has many programmes to keep the little ones busy including 跟文良叔叔学做迷你绘本 (Join Josef Lee to Make a Mini-Picture Book), a Chinese mini-picture book drawing session with writer and artist, Josef Lee and Monster Hunt, a scavenger hunt activity filled with tricky challenges and problem solving encompassed in thrilling monster-charged stories.
Goodman Open House is back with a diverse range of arts offerings
The well-loved Goodman Open House returns in physical format to present an eclectic array of arts programmes. Singapore’s largest arts enclave will be bustling with a line-up of open studios, workshops, outdoor performances, in studio sessions, and all-day fringe activities. The open house programme provides an accessible platform for GAC’s artist-tenants and other local collectives to showcase their diverse creative works and inspire audiences through the universal language of the arts.
Get creative with hands-on activities from puppet-making, rubber stamp printing, as well as a floor mural and movement workshop for all ages. Immerse yourself in the performative arts through delightful performances and an operatic showcase by young talents. Families can also look forward to a pop-up craft and food market set up amidst the lush greenery of GAC, along with carnival games and outdoor sensory art and play designed for children!
Take this chance to learn more about GAC tenant The Observatory through a moving-image installation about their musical journey and experimental practices, and draw connections between the arts and nature with nature-inspired programmes such as ecopoetry and nature-inspired workshops.
