Children are natural storytellers and love to listen to stories. While listening or sharing a story, a child experiences all the emotions that are present: whether it is fear, determination, courage, kindness, or gratitude.
In this one hour session of Mindful Movement with the Mindful Monsters, the central emotion is courage in the face of danger. Children will mindfully move through a series of yoga poses as they listen to how Mindful Monsters picked up their courage to go save the world. Children will discover their superpowers, believe in the power in them and practice to build upon their strengths and flexibility to help complete their mission.
Kids often absorb information best when they don’t know they are learning, and kids don’t realize how much they are actually taking in when they are listening to a story and doing yoga at the same time. It’s a fun and creative way to get kids moving, using their imaginations, and exercising a number of cognitive and developmental skills.
Important notes for participants: Please come in comfortable clothings for movement (eg: pants). Bring water bottle and your own yoga mat (yoga mat will not be provided). Please declare during registration if you have any injuries or recent surgeries.
