This September holidays, Sing Lit Station presents another edition of Intro to Sing Lit Day, an initiative to introduce educators to Singapore Literature, and designed for teachers and educators-to-be who are looking for ways to bring Sing Lit alive in their classrooms. Explore the history of Sing Lit from its earliest instances to contemporary experimentations with poet Joshua Ip. Understand how Sing Lit is interwoven into the history of our country, and how it has evolved under the influence of various driving forces - spoken word, confessionals, and engagement with the internet - into the modern day.
Discover the Book A Writer programme run by Sing Lit Station, which brings literary talks and workshops by contemporary Sing Lit authors into your classroom, and learn about other initiatives in technology, documentation, and community-building that could supplement your teaching.
Join poet and educator Loh Guan Liang as he explores why teachers should introduce students to Sing Lit and shares online and offline Sing Lit resources that can be used in their lessons. And finally, experience a workshop on poetic form with Daryl Qilin Yam, one of the myriad of literary programmes we offer to schools through Book A Writer.
This event is organised free for all educators as a gift from Sing Lit Station, is supported by Arts House Limited, and will be held at The Arts House.
