Shaik Kadir is the author of A Kite in the Evening Sky, which chronicles his childhood growing up in a kampung in Geylang Serai in the late 1950s and 1960s. His book is not only entertaining but also offers an insight into the lifestyle, challenges and values of that era. In this talk, the author will share how he wrote this book and provide practical tips to budding writers who are interested in writing similar works about personal life experiences.
Shaik Kadir holds a Master in Education degree from the University of Sheffield, UK. He has done training in teaching and journalism internationally and locally. He has years of experience as an educator and journalist and was a senior lecturer at the Institute if Technical Education (ITE). He has now retired from service. He has also written books such as The Girl with the Mole (1992), Planet of the Dwarfs (1988) and several non- fiction books including Commanding a Dynamic Personality (2000) and Islam Explained (2006, 2017).
